The Vocal Art Ensemble will present its holiday concert, ‘Voyages Musicaux: Carols from Distant Lands,’ at several locations this weekend.

The performance will debut at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, 1324 Columbia Drive, Woodland. This will be followed by a repeat performance at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sacramento Trinity Cathedral, 2620 Capitol Ave., Sacramento; and finally with a Davis performance at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 27074 Patwin Road.

A sliding-scale donation of $6 to $20 will be requested at the door.

Drupal: Have you heard of it? Do you use it?

My business partner, Alexis and I are in the process of converting our company's website to Drupal. We have found that Drupal offers amazing customization ability. Our original site was based purely in PHP and we found very difficult to add new content and update news entries, for example. The new site, which will be launched soon, has been completely converted to Drupal.

Watching the spiraling price of gold (the spot price as of this writing is $1,213.40/oz) has been a humbling experience for me. There are all kinds of marketing forces happening to cause this, but if you follow what the Austrian School folks are saying, this is not a surprising trend at all. Central banks around the world are dumping their U.S. dollars and buying up gold, which is driving the price up. But I think this is different than just another commodity bubble, because the way gold is perceived–as a store of wealth.
