The Vocal Art Ensemble will present its holiday concert, 'Voyages Musicaux: Carols from Distant Lands,' at several locations this weekend.
The performance will debut at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, 1324 Columbia Drive, Woodland. A sliding-scale donation of $6 to $20 will be requested at the door.
Accompanied by Ray Frank (guitar) and Bob Wren (fiddle and mandolin), 'Voyages Musicaux' will visit England's majestic stone cathedrals, the dazzling festivals of Brazil, the serenely ordered temples of Japan, and all points in between.
The Vocal Art Ensemble, founded in February 2008 by Tracia Barbieri, gathers experienced musicians to enjoy the pursuit of artistic expression through finesse of the human voice. Appealing to both the discerning musician and the casual music lover, the ensemble aims to present exquisite performances of music ranging, from the elegant beauty of Renaissance motets to the compelling excitement of modern works.
